The Tefaf experience

Last Sunday I had the unique opportunity to attend one of the biggest fine art fairs in the world. The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF) happens to be organized every year in Maastricht, the Netherlands, where I currently live. This breathtaking collection of the best art on the market has touched and most certainly inspired me. Although the fair was divided into antiques, design, modern art and paintings, I must say that the last two were the departments I enjoyed viewing the most. Especially landscape painings of sites in southern Italy, which have seemed oddly familiar before I realized what they depicted. It was due to the numerous holiday trips I have taken to admire these destinations, that these particular paintings have left me longing for an Italian holiday at that exact moment. Despite the fact that I am far from actually being able to afford any of the fine art works sold at this event, it was amazing to experience the creative atmosphere and admire pieces by renowned and new artists up close, without the help of uncle Google. Here are some of my personal highlights of the Tefaf 2014 experience, which were definitely worth making my feet suffer in high heels for 5 hours. I can honestly recommend visiting Tefaf to anyone, even if you aren’t a complete art fanatic. With the variety of pieces from 275 sellers from all over the world, everyone can find works of art they will fall in love with.
